Obsessions And Compulsions (OCD)

Obsessions  and compulsions can be successfully treated with hypnotherapy. Obsessions and compulsion are sometimes often confused, they are not  the same. Although they are both anxiety related.

Let us look at the difference

Lets take a person who has a compulsion to tidy the house they have the thought they carry it out and they feel a sense of reward. They receive an mediate sense of achievement lowering their anxiety state and they feel much better.

A person who suffers from an obsession however broods over their thought until they are compelled to carry it out.. But unlike the compulsive they don't feel any reward for carrying out the task they feel no satisfaction what  so ever and will brood over the task until they  are compelled to carry the task out again and again.

As you can see a with a compulsive they receive a reward for carrying out the task. As for the obsession they feel no reward.

OCD obsessional thoughts

Obsessional thoughts like counting checking things are some symptoms of OCD.  the person is preoccupied with carrying out the task or thought they just can't seem to get the thought out of their head they no they are silly but still carry them out.  They some times feel that if they do not carry out the task that something bad may happen to them.
